The Story of Swamp Cat
My love for kombucha began in 2021 on a camping trip at a little campground in Glocester, RI. At the local grocery store, I grabbed a CBD-infused green tea blend from Aqua Vitea (one of my favorite kombucha breweries out of Vermont). The smoky bitterness of the green tea lit up my taste buds, and paired with the campfire crackle and pine-scented air, it sparked what would become my next obsession. Every camping trip after that, I made sure to pick up that same bottle of booch.
Back home, I started noticing kombucha everywhere. Soon I developed a new motto: “a booch a day.” Around that time, I was also stepping back from alcohol to support my overall health, and kombucha became both a delicious replacement and a daily ritual. I began wondering why kombucha didn’t have nearly the same amount of tasting rooms that craft beer does. On a cross-country trip, we stopped into Tap Shack in San Diego, and I realized just how cool a kombucha bar could be. That moment planted the seed for my own vision--what would grow into Swamp Cat Kombucha.
The name** Swamp Cat** honors my late adventure cat, Nova. She came into my life through the universal cat distribution system while traveling with my husband through Louisiana in our little camper trailer. For nine months, she journeyed with us—curious, fearless, and always exploring—until she sadly and unexpectedly left us while doing what she loved most. Swamp Cat is my way of carrying her spirit forward.
Through Swamp Cat, I aim to share my kombucha obsession and curate some of my favorite brands discovered during my travels (with plans to release my own brew soon!). My vision is to create a mobile kombucha bar to pop up at local events, artisan markets, weddings, and special occasions, bringing people together over this fizzy, funky, healthy, and endlessly creative drink.
